Tuesday, 7/30, 8-10pm – Museum Trivia at the Campfire Grille, Bridgton, free
Join the museum at the Campfire Grille and Bar in Bridgton for a fun trivia night with questions about Maine Cultural Heritage and Rufus Porter. Complete with drink specials and prizes, free admittance for all! Arrive early as the seating tends to fill up quickly
Saturday, 8/10, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm – Camera Obscura Sketching Day, $10
Have you always wondered what exactly a camera obscura does? Are you interested in knowing more about the early roots of photography? Do you enjoy being creative? Then this workshop is for you! We will start at the museum with a brief chat about what a camera obscura is and how Rufus Porter used one, then we will construct our own out of provided materials. Finally we will travel off site (weather permitting) to try out our creations and draw plein-air. No drawing skills necessary! Bring your own drawing materials, sketchbook, and optional camp chair, and we will provide the rest! $10 will cover supplies and instruction.
Wednesday, 8/28, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm – Furniture Detectives – date your old furniture, $10
Have you always wondered how old Grandma's chair is? Do you want to know how do date wooden furniture and objects? Come to this informative session led by Tom Johnson, director of Victoria Mansion in Portland, to learn about historic furniture. Visitors should bring one small piece of wooden furniture from home to discuss with the group in hopes of discovering the truth behind it! $10 includes museum admission and object assessment.

Saturday, 9/28 – Candlelit Tour – free for those with a Maine drivers license
Life without electricity is something few of us can imagine! Step back in time with your fellow local residents to experience what it would have been like to spend an evening in a nineteenth century home. Tour guides will light up the museum with candles and bring the past to life. Free for anyone with a Maine drivers license and their families!
